Participants in the “Sovereignty Forum” held in the capital, Tripoli, issued a final statement affirming that the Libyan people’s national sovereignty over their entire territory is an absolute right that must not be undermined or circumvented under any pretext.
The statement stressed the firm rejection of all political tracks formulated outside the national will or imposed on Libyans as a fait accompli, considering that any solution lacking popular legitimacy is unlawful regardless of the international actors supporting it.
Attendees warned against the continued production of “fragile solutions” aimed at entrenching dependency and deepening political division, emphasizing that such approaches delay rather than achieve the desired stability.
Participants explained that the real way out of the crisis must originate from within Libya and be based on the aspirations of its people, away from opaque understandings managed behind closed doors. They declared their full readiness to engage in organized national action to defend the country’s sovereignty and uphold Libyans’ right to choose their future without external dictates.
The forum concluded by calling on all Libyans, regardless of their orientations, to move beyond fragmentation and unite around the principle of “sovereignty first,” considering the forum a first step toward building a national movement deriving its legitimacy from Libyan consensus.
The statement also delivered a clear message to the international community and relevant actors: the era of imposed international solutions is over, and Libya will only be governed by Libyans.
