Nevisian artist Vaughn Anslyn, known for his work spanning portraits, photography, murals, event décor, body painting, and other creative forms, has built a reputation for versatility and precision across multiple visual art disciplines.
He has gained international attention following the presentation of a custom portrait to global streamer iShowSpeed during a recent visit to St. Kitts.
The moment took place on April 29, 2026, during iShowSpeed’s Caribbean tour, highlighting the intersection of local artistic expression and global digital influence.
Anslyn developed the piece to reflect both iShowSpeed’s public persona and the visual landscape of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“The creative process started when I found out he would be at the top of the hill with the St. Kitts sign and the peninsula view in the background,” Anslyn explained. “So I used that setting as the backdrop.”
He added that one of the streamer’s signature hand gestures was also incorporated to ensure immediate recognition among his global audience.
Anslyn said the work took approximately six hours to complete, beginning with background and facial work the day before, and concluding with final refinements on the day of iShowSpeed’s arrival.
Beyond the technical process, he said the piece carried a deeper intention. With iShowSpeed’s tightly scheduled itinerary limiting his time in the Federation, Anslyn felt compelled to ensure Nevis was represented in some form.
“I needed to represent Nevis in some way, shape or form,” he said.
Reflecting on the presentation, Anslyn described the response as more meaningful than any financial reward.
“I always tell people I don’t work for the money. My reward comes from the expressions of clients when they see my work,” he said. “To have someone of that magnitude appreciate it and say he was taking it with him was more than enough for me.”
The moment, he added, extended beyond personal recognition, reinforcing the visibility of Nevisian creative talent on an international stage.
Anslyn’s murals and street art can be seen across St. Kitts and Nevis, contributing to the islands’ visual landscape. His work continues to play a visible role in shaping public spaces, reflecting both cultural identity and contemporary artistic expression across the Federation.
His international profile is further underscored by earlier recognition beyond the region, including the inclusion of his work Mosaic – A Woman of Power in an Everyday World in the permanent collection of the Art Museum of the Americas at the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C. on November 8, 2024.
