Łódź-based lawyer Paweł Kozanecki, convicted of causing a fatal road accident, is now wanted by the police. He is the attorney who became notorious for a disparaging remark about “coffins on wheels.”
Kozanecki has been finally convicted of causing an accident in which two women were killed. The District Court in Olsztyn reduced the sentence handed down by the court of first instance (in April 2025, Kozanecki had been sentenced to two years in prison and a five-year driving ban) and imposed a penalty of one year and six months in prison along with a four-year ban on driving.
The accident occurred in September 2021 on the Barczewo–Jeziorany road. According to the indictment, Kozanecki, driving a Mercedes, violated road safety rules by crossing a double solid line and entering the opposite lane. This led to an unintentional road accident—a collision with an oncoming Audi 80. As a result, the driver and passenger of the Audi died at the scene. Shortly after the crash, Kozanecki posted a video on social media in which he described the incident as a confrontation between a safe car and a “coffin on wheels.”
After being sentenced to 1.5 years in prison, the convicted lawyer applied to serve his sentence under electronic monitoring. The District Court in Łódź refused to suspend the execution of the sentence pending consideration of the request. The sentence is therefore to be enforced.

At the end of April, the lawyer known for the “coffins on wheels” remark was placed on the wanted list by the Łódź police. The legal basis for the search is “causing, even unintentionally, an accident resulting in the death of another person or serious bodily harm, through the violation—even if unintentional—of safety rules in land, water, or air traffic.”
Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to report it immediately by calling 112.
