With the price index standing at 1,035.12 points in March, Luxembourg’s wage indexation threshold of 1,038.79 points could be reached in May or June, triggering a 2.5% increase in salaries and pensions.
The next wage indexation is approaching. Luxembourg entered the second quarter of 2026 in April, and it is precisely during this quarter that the indexation is scheduled.
According to the latest forecasts from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC), published in early April, the wage indexation is still expected before summer. It should therefore be announced in the coming weeks, though the exact timing remains to be determined.
New indications as to when the indexation will be triggered are expected in early May, when the inflation rate for April is released on Wednesday 6 May. The price index calculated by STATEC stood at 1,035.12 points in March. The threshold to be reached for the increase in wages, civil service pay, and pensions to apply is 1,038.79 points.
If STATEC’s estimates are confirmed but inflation is not sufficient in April, the triggering threshold will be reached in May or at the latest in June. STATEC will calculate this, again at the latest, in early June and then in early July.
Salaries will then increase by 2.5%. The unskilled minimum social wage will rise to approximately €2,771 per month, while the skilled minimum wage will reach €3,325 per month.
