At one hundred and eleven years old, Louis Cano is most likely the oldest man in the United States. The father of ten revealed four factors that he believes are the secret to his longevity, limon.postimees.ee writes.
Luis Cano was born in Colombia on December 9, 1914. He currently lives in Linden, New Jersey, USA and enjoys fishing. Cano married Alicia Angelo Cano in 1948 and they have ten children, 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
LongeviQuest, an organization that tracks the world’s oldest people, has confirmed that he is the 112th oldest person in the world.
Cano served in the Colombian army, but later founded a bus company that transported people in rural areas.
In the 1990s, the couple moved to Far Rockaway, New York. After the death of his wife, Kano moved to Linden in 2004, where he lives with his two children.
“Don’t drink too much, sleep well and don’t smoke,” he said, listing the secrets to his longevity.
He also noted that the key to a good life is good behavior.
He spends most of his time at home, looking out the window and reflecting on his life. He likes to watch the planes flying above him – aviation has been Kano’s lifelong passion.
Cano proudly displays a LongeviQuest citation that certifies him as the oldest living man in the United States. Family and work have always been at the center of his life, he says, and he never had a formal education.

In 2025, Louise Jean Signore, the oldest person living in New York, died at the age of 113.
Friends described him as someone who maintained his zest for life until the end of his life. She attributed her longevity to physical activities – swimming, long walks and passion for music and dancing.
“She had a fantastic life. She was a happy person. She never spoke of regret,” said her longtime friend Francis Perkins.
According to LongeviQuest, longevity ran in the Signore family, with her youngest sister living to be over 102, her mother dying at age 97, and all three of her brothers dying around age 95.
