The ex-director of the Public Security Bureau and former Minister of Internal Affairs, Mitko Chavkov, left the prison in Shtip today around 10 am. He has been released on parole, confirmed the director of Stip prison, Dejan Zdravkov. Chavkov was sentenced to 18 years in prison for “terrorist threat to constitutional order and security” for the events of April 27. He demanded a retrial, evaluating the process as a “political montage”, and during the serving of the sanction he faced health problems, due to which his sentence was suspended for a certain period. After he got out of prison, he posted a photo on social networks with his daughter who welcomed him.
The basic criminal court reduced his prison sentence, as well as most of the others convicted in the same case.
