The Cybercrime Department at the Bureau of Public Security within the Ministry of Internal Affairs informs the public that a frequent occurrence has been observed in recent days, where unknown persons via foreign phone number +639606963624 send Macedonian users messages about an allegedly registered traffic violation and demand payment with a payment card for the same on a fake website http://mvr.govmk.cam/mk.
The fraud is carried out in such a way that, after the persons click on the link left in the message, it leads to a fake website of the Ministry of the Interior where they ask you to enter your license plate of your vehicle and then it takes you to a new window where you have been registered an offense and they ask you to pay 1500 denars for it.
We appeal to the citizens to be cautious and not to trust messages coming from an illegitimate website of the Ministry, nor to leave their personal data and data from their payment card, which then represent a target for abuse.
Also, the Department for Computer Crime at the Ministry of the Interior appeals to citizens and legal entities not to open suspicious links and attached documents attached to messages that do not come from verified and known senders in order not to fall for fraud of this type.
