An official at the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry stated that the number of pharmaceutical institutions approved by the Ministry to produce medicines intended for the treatment of cancer in Algeria has reached 15 institutions, of which 11 institutions are actually under exploitation.
According to what was reported on Algerian television, today, Monday, May 4, by the official in charge of the Ministry’s Pharmaceutical Production Directorate, Rania Ferli, the national industrial fabric, which includes a total of 233 pharmaceutical institutions in various specialties, includes 11 institutions, including the public complex “Sidal”, which is currently producing 172 medicines used in the treatment of several types of cancers, out of 439 medicines in this field that are today being marketed to the central pharmacy of hospitals to cover the requests of health institutions. The official also stated that in addition to these institutions currently under exploitation, four new projects are being completed to strengthen national production in this field.
This brings the total number of accreditations granted by the Ministry to establish industrial units specialized in the production of anti-cancer substances so far to 15 accreditations, while a request for two other accreditations is being studied, according to the same source.
