Today, April 30, the College of Certified Public Accountants of Panama commemorates 69 years of institutional life, distinguished by a permanent commitment to public faith, professional ethics and the strengthening of the economic and social development of the country.
Since its founding in 1957, the College has been a key actor in the consolidation of the accounting profession, accompanying the evolution of the Panamanian State, the private sector and the financial system. Throughout this period, generations of certified public accountants have contributed technical rigor, independence and responsibility to the transparency, accountability and trust that sustain national economic activity.
The history of the College is also the history of a profession that has known how to adapt to changes in the environment, continually strengthening its standards, its training and its role in society. In this scenario, the certified public accountant reaffirms his role as a guarantor of trust and value.
During this year, the Board of Directors has assumed the commitment to continue strengthening the College as a solid, modern institution close to its members. Initiatives have been promoted aimed at specialized training, the exchange of knowledge and the strengthening of links with national and international organizations, aware that the Panamanian accounting profession is part of a global community and must remain at the forefront of best practices. All of this, without losing sight of our fundamental duty: to protect the public faith and serve the collective interest.
Commemorating 69 years is also an opportunity to recognize those who, since the founding of the College, have contributed their time, knowledge and leadership to build a respected and reliable institution. To them, as well as to our members, technical commissions and support teams, we express our sincere gratitude.
We look to the future with responsibility and clear vision. The College of Certified Public Accountants of Panama will continue to be a space for integration, training and professional defense, committed to the institutional strengthening of the country and the development of a profession that continues to be essential for the proper functioning of our society.
Ricardo A. Carvajal V.
