While Djurgården’s players and supporters celebrated the 6–0 victory – which broke a three-game winless streak – with broad smiles, it was the opposite at IFK Göteborg.
Not a single victory for last year’s fourth-placed Allsvenskan side.
At the end of the match, IFK Göteborg’s visiting defender chose to demonstratively turn his back on the pitch.
That’s the hardest part; we have such great supporters. They travel all the way here and sing for 90 minutes. It’s a big disappointment that we can’t give anything back, says Heintz.
After just over half an hour, Djurgården had won the match. The home team was leading 3–0 at the time, and Djurgården’s supporters taunted their opponents with the chant “Blue and white are going out”.
Refused interview
Djurgården took control of the match from the first minute and were far superior to a pale Gothenburg side.
Jeppe Okkels scored 1–0 with his left foot after a nice breakthrough in his first start of the season.
The Dane was also involved in the 2–0 goal, which Patric Åslund scored after Gothenburg goalkeeper Elis Bishesari directed Okkels’ cross right to Åslund’s feet.
Three minutes later, in the 34th minute, Kristian Lien headed in the third to make it 3–0.
“We lack intensity, are passive and cowardly on the ball. If you’re going to watch football, it’s better to do it from the stands than from the pitch,” IFK Göteborg coach Stefan Billborn told TV4 about the first half.
After the match, a pressured and criticized Billborn declined to give any interviews to TV4.
After a slightly better start to the second half, everything collapsed when Patric Åslund scored his second goal of the evening to make it 4–0 in the 62nd minute.
“Completely different energy”
Joel Asoro then replaced Åslund – and scored two goals after coming on.
We dominated from the first minute to the 90th. We came in with a completely different energy. We have had difficulty in the final third; let’s hope the goals come, says Asoro.
Djurgården’s preparation for the big derby against AIK on Sunday could not have been better.
“There is nothing better than winning,” says Asoro.
Halmstad has also not won in the Allsvenskan this season. The table giant fell 1–3 at home to Brommapojkarna and remains on two points.
