A 65-year-oldresident of Exuma was found dead in his vehicle, which was partially submerged in the waters off Baratarre, police have confirmed.
Local reports suggest that the car veered off the road and plunged into the water. The alarm was raised by a passerby who spotted the vehicle and contacted the authorities around noon today.
“The investigation indicates that a concerned citizen had noticed the vehicle in the water before the police’s arrival and had used a tool to gain access,” police said. “The individual assisted in removing the victim from the vehicle, after which he was discovered by responding officers. Initial findings suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the bridge and into the water.”
Police said an authopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
