Paris (France), May 1, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi community residing in France, along with French activists in solidarity with the Sahrawi cause, participated in the May 1 marches called for by trade unions in a number of French cities, with a remarkable presence that reflected continued solidarity with the struggle of the Sahrawi people.
The cities of Paris, Bordeaux and Toulouse, in particular, witnessed a distinguished Sahrawi participation during which slogans were raised affirming the Sahrawi people’s adherence to their inalienable right to self-determination and independence, coinciding with the celebration of International Workers’ Day.
Sahrawi flags fluttered alongside trade union and international flags, in a scene that embodied the unity of the struggles for freedom, justice and peoples’ rights. Banners denouncing the violations and deprivation of their rights that the Sahrawi people are subjected to also attracted the attention of participants and followers of the marches.

In the same context, Sahrawi activists and French solidarity activists distributed brochures and informational materials to introduce developments in the Sahrawi issue and the situation in Western Sahara, with the aim of expanding the circle of international solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their just cause.
This participation comes within the framework of the continuing efforts made by the Sahrawi community in France and the solidarity networks supporting it, in order to keep the Sahrawi issue present on the international scene and defend the legitimate rights of the Sahrawi people.(SPA)
