Singer Björgvin Halldórsson was buried today at 3 p.m. The funeral was held from Hallgrímskirkja and was open to all citizens.
Björgvin was born in Hafnarfjörður on April 16, 1951. He died at his home on April 9.

Björgvin was one of the most beloved singers in the nation and worked with the bands Bendix, Flowers, Ævintýri, Brimkló, Hljórum, Change, Ðe Lónlí Blú Bojs, HLH, Sléttuúlfunum, Björgvin Halldórsson’s band and others.

He released a number of records with these bands as well as releasing numerous solo albums. He was extremely prolific in his career, recording over 900 songs.
Björgvin was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon in January 2011 for his contribution to Icelandic music.
