At least 9 people were killed, including a 4-year-old child and his mother, after a tourist boat capsized during a violent storm in Jabalpur, central India, while a number of passengers are still missing.
The accident occurred in the Bargi Dam area on the Narmada River, where the boat capsized due to bad weather conditions, leading to panic among the passengers.
Rescue teams were able to save 28 people, while search operations continued for 6 missing people, including children, amid difficult circumstances.

Constant attempts to rescue passengers
Survivors reported that safety measures were inadequate, noting that they did not receive life jackets, which raised suspicions of negligence.
On the other hand, the local authorities announced the dismissal of the boat driver, his assistant, and the person responsible for selling tickets, and opened an investigation to uncover the circumstances of the accident. They also decided to temporarily suspend the operation of similar tourist boats until the investigation is completed.
For his part, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, stressing that the authorities are following up on the incident.
