After the dissemination of the expenses, the Nucleoeléctrica company cut off the corporate cards

Juan Martin Campospresident of the state company Nucleoeléctrica Argentina, announced that he had eliminated the use of corporate credit cards for travel, after the dissemination of a documentincluded in the management report of the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, which exposed unjustified consumption abroad by authorities of the energy company.

“I have ordered to modify this scheme that has become obsolete, discontinuing the use of corporate credit cards for trips, with the aim of simplifying, transparent and centralizing the administration of daily fee resources for trips abroad,” Campos announced, after the report was disseminated.

The company had not responded to questions from THE NATION on expenses until the publication of the information.

Among the expenses of the company authorities were payments to nightclubs in Madrid, beach service companies in Valencia, hairdressers, free shops, clothing houses abroad, hotels and restaurants in different parts of the world. Furthermore, there are more than 400 cash advances for about $56 million. All movements were recorded between March 2025 and February 2026, a period that almost entirely coincides with the management of Demian Reidelformer advisor to Javier Milei, at the head of the company.

Reidel denied having used corporate cards from the state company for personal expenses and demanded that “every last peso” spent by officials with these plastics be investigated.

Juan Martin Camposwho succeeded Reidel, argued that the consumption “was carried out within the framework of a formal scheme that has mandatory reporting” and, therefore, any expense that “is not considered justified” had to be returned. In any case, it was not specified whether the consumption identified in the report was returned.

“The corporate card system, in force since 2020, was mainly used to pay the daily fee to agents who performed functions within the framework of work trips abroad, as well as for representation expenses linked to managerial functions,” Campos added in his defense.

Campos announced the end of corporate cards after the dissemination of expenses. In his message he did not specify when he had taken the measure. Once THE NATION published the ad, his collaborators assured that he had resolved it in February. However, on that occasion there was no announcement and THE NATION detected expenses after the date.

The documentation that allowed the expenses to be identified was part of the written responses of the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, to the deputies’ queries. The “Corporate Card Report Nucleoeléctrica Argentina SA”, from account 338402 has 58 pages, has dates, details of operations and amounts in US$ and pesos. That is, it shows all the expenses paid over the course of a year with funds from the public company. As LA NACION explained when revealing the issue, it does not specify who made each expenditure. It also does not clarify whether one or more plastics were used.

The list mixes consumption linked to the energy sector such as “Nuclear Energy Institu”, “Zachry Nuclear Enginee”, “Org. of Canada Nuclear”, with dozens of consumption in hotels, restaurants, clothing stores and personal expenses such as hairdressers, perfumeries and cosmetics.

“One of the first measures I took as President of Nucleoeléctrica was to order a detailed analysis of foreign consumption of corporate cards, and in those cases in which inconsistencies or lack of sufficient justification were identified, the corresponding administrative procedures were applied, including the return of the amounts by the agents involved,” Campos added.

Corporate card report Nucleoeléctrica Argentina SA

The Nucleoelectrica corporate card report contains payments with several airlines such as Air Europa, American Airlines or United, consumption above the planes, but The largest amounts are recorded in hotels, and in a chain of temporary rentals. Among the hotels, payments are observed to “Hotel Mayorazgo”, in Madrid, “Facade Hotel Amsterdam”, “Hotel Du Parc Baden AG”, in Switzerland, and “St Regis Hotel Singapor”, in October 2025. In November, operations were registered with “Hotel Melia Castilla”, “Gale Miami Hotel and R” and “Windsor Leme Hotel”, whose name coincides with one located in Rio de Janeiro.

Reidel was in Vienna in May and December of last year.

In December, the trail of the corporate card leads the eye to the “Vienna Marriot Hotel” and the “Meliá Vienna” in Austria. The dates coincide with a photo published by Reidel in the Austrian capital with Rafael Grossidirector general of the International Atomic Energy Agency. The same scene occurred on May 28, 2025 in that city. Two days later, the card recorded a spend of US$1,772.17 at the Meliá Hotel in Vienna.
