Bajraktari: In 350 visits to construction industries, nearly 50% of workplaces have been disrupted

Occupational safety and health expert Naim Bajraktari, on the Oath for Justice show “Tempus”, said that within two weeks, 350 visits were made by inspectors to workplaces, and about 50% of them were terminated.
“Within two weeks, 350 visits have been made to construction industries and in nearly 50% of them, work has been suspended (as a result of work outside the criteria),” said expert Bajraktari.
According to him, the greatest awareness has been raised among the inspectors themselves and not among other entities such as employers or employees.
“This inspection that was done, the greatest awareness that was done, came from the inspectors themselves. They themselves were made aware. Now every second workplace is closed. Why weren’t they closed before?”, Bajraktari said in “Tempus”.
“Over the last two weeks we have not seen any development, no statement from any inspector,” Bajraktari added.
Meanwhile, from the Education Union, Ymer Ymeri said that the government had no intention of addressing labor issues.
“The government has not had the intention to look at labor issues, we are only talking about cases of death that are and should definitely be made public that they are deaths, while other cases of injuries that are, which perhaps remain with major consequences, with disability at work, and there are major cases that employers influence in various ways and they do not appear at all, or we also have cases in the energy sector when those who work with energy, high voltage are without protection, without anything, and they are not reported at all to the Labor Inspectorate,” said Ymeri.
These statements were made on the “Tempus” show, which for May 1, International Labor Day, addressed the topic “When work kills and the state fails to protect workers and their rights.”
