Overall 72,000 smart meters in Nicosia they will be vigilant on behalf of EOA’s customers, instantly detecting any losses in properties and thus, the beneficiaries will be able to call their plumber or check themselves (if the damage is obvious) in order to avoid the loss of precious water or unnecessary charges.
Consumers will be notified on their mobile phone when a loss problem occurs.
Based on today’s data and with the usual meters, every two months a recorder visits the premises, records the reading of the meters and the corresponding charge follows. However, in this particular way, if a damage occurs the day after the count that is not noticed, it will be recorded two months later when the consumer sees his bill inflated.
Such cases are recorded daily. But with smart meters, such cases will not exist.
Smart meters will be constantly connected to his system EOAthrough low and harmless internet that Cyta will offer through its substations. Thus, on the day the system detects increased water consumption in a building, a red light will light up. An SMS will then be sent to the consumer’s mobile phone, through which they will be informed that unusually high water consumption is recorded, so that they can take immediate measures to stop the leakage and avoid excessive water consumption charges.
The Nicosia District Self-Governing Organization will present the capabilities of the new water meters during a press conference which are being installed in collaboration with the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA).
EOA Nicosia considers that the project of replacing conventional water meters with modern “smart” water measuring devices is an important part of the Organization’s strategic planning and is part of the implementation of the digital transformation of the Organization with the aim of improving services and more efficient management of water resources.
