Intensive NATO exercises involving Polish troops are currently underway in Latvia. The maneuvers are designed to assess real combat readiness and the ability of allied forces to operate jointly.
A Test in Combat Conditions
Military exercises known as Oak Resolve are being conducted on Latvian territory, with the participation of the Polish contingent. This is one of the most important readiness tests for NATO’s Multinational Brigade, featuring scenarios that closely resemble real conflict conditions.
The exercises aim to provide a comprehensive evaluation of operational capabilities. They include both offensive and defensive operations, allowing for an assessment of response speed, command quality, and the ability to conduct sustained missions:
“The scenarios include both offensive and defensive operations, enabling an evaluation of response time, command effectiveness, and the capacity to carry out prolonged activities,”
reads a statement from the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.
One of the key elements of the exercise is interoperability, the ability of armed forces from different countries to work together effectively. Polish soldiers are using, among other equipment, Leopard 2PL tanks and are carrying out joint tasks with units from Canada, Spain, and Italy:
“Exercise Oak Resolve demonstrates how crucial allied cooperation within NATO is. Joint training enhances operational capabilities, builds trust, and strengthens readiness to act within the framework of collective defense,”
the statement emphasized.
The presence of Polish troops on NATO’s eastern flank is of strategic importance. Regular exercises increase deterrence and demonstrate the unity of allied nations in the face of potential threats.
