The Independent National Elections Authority revealed the preliminary tally recorded until Monday regarding the number of lists that expressed their intention to run for the election of members of the National People’s Assembly scheduled for July 2, 2026.
According to the authority’s statement, the number of collective declaration files for candidacy withdrawn within the country reached 1,223 files across 69 states, including 1,041 files sponsored by 35 political parties, and one file for a list sponsored by more than one political party (coalition), in addition to 181 files for free lists.
As for individual signature forms, 1,329,915 forms were withdrawn.
Regarding the electoral district abroad, 14 files were withdrawn to declare candidacy under the auspices of 11 political parties.
The statement finally indicated that, to date, no file for the collective declaration of candidacy has been submitted.
