On April 28, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon received US Special Presidential Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gore. The parties discussed a wide range of issues relating to the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, including the economy, trade, investment and security.
How the press service reports head of state, special attention was paid to the implementation of agreements reached within the framework of the “Central Asia – USA (C5+1)” dialogue. During the conversation, it was noted that the United States is one of the five leading investment partners of Tajikistan. The President of Tajikistan focused on the importance of actively using the opportunities provided by the Trade and Investment Agreement (TIFA).
He noted the country’s significant potential in such areas as hydropower, mining and processing of minerals, as well as light, food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The parties recognized practical cooperation in these areas as mutually beneficial. Rahmon emphasized Tajikistan’s interest in deepening ties with the United States in these and other promising areas.
“Tajikistan and the United States have common interests in ensuring security and developing economic cooperation,” said Sergio Gore, emphasizing that Tajikistan continues to be the focus of attention of the United States.

Particular attention at the negotiations was paid to the prospects for the development of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure and the economy, as well as the creation of joint ventures for the processing of agricultural products for the purpose of exporting them. All these areas were considered important for strengthening bilateral relations and attracting investment.
At a press conference Following the meeting, Sergio Gore noted that Tajikistan and the United States have common interests, especially in the field of combating terrorism and countering external threats. These issues were also discussed during the meeting with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
“US President Donald Trump highly appreciates the contribution of the President of Tajikistan to ensuring stability in the country and the region,” Gore said.
The special envoy also said that the US delegation is on a two-day official visit to Dushanbe. During the visit, a number of meetings were held where issues of combating terrorism and external threats, as well as expanding cooperation in the field of security were discussed.
The significance of the meeting of the leaders of the two countries in Washington was also noted, which is considered as an important step in the development of bilateral relations.
“The parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen relations and take bilateral cooperation to a new level,” Gore concluded.
