The international paragliding championship for the Cup of the President of the Republic has ended in Tajikistan. The competition took place in the village of Khurramzamin, Dangara district.
The championship is held annually and this time brought together more than 150 athletes from 20 countries, reports the Federation of Paragliding and Ultralight Aviation of Tajikistan.
The championship program included 2 disciplines: landing accuracy and cross-country flights.
The competition was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of Tajikistan and lasted from April 27 to May 4 of this year. They took place in a tense struggle, complicated by the peculiarities of the mountainous terrain and changeable wind conditions in the region, the Federation noted.

Who took the prizes?
Based on the results of the competition in the “landing accuracy” discipline, the prizes were distributed as follows: first place went to Almaz Akhmetov (Kazakhstan), second place to Maxim Moldovanov (Kazakhstan), third place to Alexander Nosal (Russia).
In the women’s competition, Irina Sidorenko (Kazakhstan) won, Olga Lysenkova (Russia) took second place, and Alana Dossanova (Kazakhstan) took third place.
In the national competition, first place was taken by Makhmudjon Mukimov, second by Shamsiddin Kakhorov, third by Davronjon Satorov.
The fight in the discipline of cross-country flights became especially intense, where the main trophy – the Cup of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan – was played out. According to the results of the competition, Alexey Yurtaev (Russia) took first place, Ilya Shashin (Tajikistan) took second place, and Alexander Isaev (Russia) took third place.
In the women’s competition, the entire podium was occupied by representatives of Russia: Ekaterina Demyanova (1st place), Olga Bryakotnina (2nd place), Ekaterina Grishkova (3rd place).
In the national standings of the Republic of Tajikistan in the discipline of cross-country flights, Ilya Shashin took first place, Shamsiddin Kakhorov took second, and Sherali Ilyasov took third.
Among other things, it is also reported that an autonomous camping town was organized for participants and guests, which is built annually for the period of the competition. It is noted that the camp infrastructure provided comfortable living and included electricity, water delivery, showers, a dining room and other necessary conditions.
“The championship became possible thanks to the full support of the government of the Republic of Tajikistan. The tournament continues to strengthen the country’s position as a promising international platform for the development of paragliding and contributes to the expansion of sports cooperation,” the Federation noted.
