Liberal senator Gabriel Andronache explained that PSD and GOLD decided to submit a motion of no confidence against the government led by Ilia Bolojan as they feared that the liberal would remain in office for a long time. He presented two previous decisions that show how the government could have continued in its current form.
“PSD and AUR realized that Ilie Bolojan will remain prime minister for a long time. They were afraid that there are parliamentary precedents from 2006 (December 12) and 2007 (April 3) – photo – which show that the vote in Parliament will only concern the new ministers, not the entire Government.
So, even if the new ministers are not approved by Parliament, the Prime Minister will remain in office! And then the run to the censure motion,” wrote Gabriel Andronache on Facebook.
He attached two photos of Parliament decisions from 2006 and 2007, which provided for the removal of some ministers.
The first concerned his appointment Varujan Vosganian in the position of Minister of Economy after the resignation of Codruț Sereș.
The second document talks about the modification of the structure of the Government, where, in article 2, it is specified that “The other ministries and other members of the Government provided for in the decision of the Romanian Parliament no. 24/2004 for granting confidence to the Government with subsequent modifications are not subject to the modification of the structure of the composition of the Government”.
PSD-AUR announcement
Marian Neacșu held press statements on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Palace of the Parliament, where he announced, together with Petrișor Peiu, the initiation of a censure motion against Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
The two conveyed that the document will be drafted jointly and that they count on sufficient parliamentary support for the adoption of the motion.
“Following several rounds of discussions between the leaders of our parties, it was decided that Mr. Petrișor Peiu and I will deal with the technical part of a joint motion of censure. That is why we are here today. The thing we will deal with is exclusively technical. The political approach will probably be explained during this day by the presidents of the parties. (…) We are jointly writing a motion of censure, we hope it will pass. We have a plan,” said Marian Neacșu.
