On the menu, the implementation of the salary increases provided for by the 2026 finance law and the acceleration of the recruitment process for the long-term unemployed.

The meeting held by the Head of Government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri and the Ministers of Finance, Social Affairs and Employment is in line with the meetings held by the Head of State as part of monitoring the implementation of article 15 of the 2026 finance law.

This article provides for an annual increase in wages and salaries in the public and private sectors as well as retirement pensions for the period 2026-2028, according to a press release from the Presidency of the Republic.

During this meeting, the Head of State stressed that the Tunisian State is determined to move forward on the path of implementing its social policy in all areas, reaffirming the irreversible commitment to fight against retrograde forces, mercenaries and the corrupt.

Addressing the issue of recruitment of the long-term unemployed, the Head of State gave his instructions with a view to completing the establishment of a digital platform dedicated to the recruitment of the long-term unemployed, emphasizing the imperative of basing this recruitment on criteria of “justice and equity”.

President Saïed took the opportunity to denounce a situation that he considers “abnormal” within the Tunisian administration.

In this context, he strongly criticized the unjustified and fictitious recruitments carried out in the past on the basis of partisan allegiances, pointing out parties who took the State for “loot” and power for a source of “privileges”, accusing them of seeking by any means to exacerbate the situation with the aim of destabilizing the country.

Faced with these suspicious maneuvers, the President of the Republic reaffirmed his attachment to national sovereignty and the objectives of the revolution, namely employment, freedom and national dignity, stressing that the Tunisian people are perfectly aware of the maneuvers going on behind the scenes and that they are the only ones authorized to confront the “dark rooms” and the “false declarations” and the “disinformation campaigns” sponsored from inside or outside the country.

On another level, the President of the Republic decided to dismiss the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub.

The current Minister of Equipment and Housing, Salah Zouari, will be responsible for managing the department on an interim basis, we read from the same source.
