In 2026, Estonia will allocate at least 0.25% of its GDP – about 110 million euros to help Ukraine. The main focus will be on the purchase of drones and means of countering UAVs, reported Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
The decision on the allocation of funds was confirmed by the Minister of Defense of Estonia, Hanno Pevkur.
“The main focus is the purchase of drones and anti-aircraft defense equipment. This strengthens our capabilities in the most critical domains of war,” Fedorov wrote.
Estonia will also allocate 5.7 million euros for the development of digital transformation of the army. According to the Ukrainian minister, Estonia, together with Luxembourg, are the leaders of the “IT coalition”, within the framework of which a total of €1.4 billion was attracted for communication systems and technological solutions.
On the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine clarifiedthat Fedorov and Pevkur also signed a Letter of Intent, which envisages strengthening cooperation in the field of arms production.
“The production within the scope of this cooperation will be able to be directed primarily to the strengthening of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The document also opens up opportunities for the exchange of technologies and the development of production capacities,” the Ministry explained.
Earlier, after the meeting of the Contact Group in the Rammstein format Estonia joined to strengthening Ukrainian air defense and allocated $13 million to the PURL program.
“Oboronka” told that in October of last year, Estonia handed over A batch of drones worth “tens of millions of euros” to Ukraine. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Estonia by the Russian Federation provided military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 370 million euros, which is more than 1% of the country’s GDP.
