The Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, met today with the newly appointed Hungarian Ambassador to Montenegro, Peter Hetei, with whom, as reported, he discussed Montenegro’s European path and the further improvement of Montenegrin-Hungarian relations.
Bečić, as it was announced, pointed out that the Government achieved measurable and concrete results in the process of European integration in a short period of time, stressing that obtaining the IBAR and closing 11 negotiation chapters, or 4 times more than all the previous Governments combined, are a clear confirmation of accelerated progress.
“We are extremely grateful to our Hungarian friends for their support that, together with 26 other member states, they unanimously support the formation of an ad hoc working group for the drafting of the Treaty on the Accession of Montenegro, thereby amicably participating in the realization of our historic goal and the dream of many generations, to become the 28th member of the European Union in 2028,” said Bečić.
He especially emphasized that the successes of Montenegro have a wider significance for the region.
“The results we achieve are not only important for our frameworks, they also represent a strong message to the region that reforms are possible and that the European perspective of the Western Balkans has a real foothold,” said Bečić.
Speaking about the security sector, Bečić pointed out that the state has established a decisive and systemic response to organized crime and corruption:
“Today, there is no individual who is above the state. The time of untouchables is in the past. The authorities attack all types of crime without hesitation. International cooperation is never better. Personnel renewal is being carried out. Modern equipment is being acquired. Institutions are run by true professionals. Panic and nervousness within organized crime is evident. That is why their numerous servants are noisy and that is why hybrid activity is intense. However, every attack breeds even greater will because the state, the authorities and all honest officials and officials are determined to go to the end in the final victory of the state over crime and the liberation of the system from all illegal influences”, concluded Bečić.
Hetei, as announced by Bečić’s department, especially praised the progress of Montenegro in the sectors managed by Vice President Bečić.
“The results represent a key foundation for the successful continuation of European integration. The exceptional progress of Montenegro and on the European path in the last two years proves that enlargement is never closer, and Hungary provides its full contribution to that process through continuous expert support to Montenegrin institutions.” Hetei pointed out.
In the context of economic cooperation, the ambassador added that the opening of the Hungarian company “Wizz air” is a strong contribution to Montenegrin tourism and that he is pleased with the fact that this will be the summer tourist season with the largest number of flights and available destinations, which gives an additional boost to the good relations between the Montenegrin and Hungarian people.
At the meeting, mutual readiness for further strengthening of partnership and deepening of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest was confirmed.
