Pedro Heilbron, CEO of the Airline, reported that the new agreement contemplates the purchase of up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft that, added to the 40 pending delivery, will allow Copa Airlines to exceed 200 aircraft in its fleet by 2034.
Copa Airlines announced the signing of a new agreement with Boeing and GE Aerospace for the purchase of up to 60 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, for an approximate investment of $13.5 billion at list price.
Pedro Heilbron, CEO of the airline, reported that this order is added to the 40 aircraft pending delivery under the current agreement, which will allow the airline to incorporate more than 100 new aircraft in the next eight years and, if demand in the region is sustained, reach a fleet of more than 200 units by 2034, thus strengthening its growth and expansion plan in the region.
“For Copa Airlines, the signing of this agreement represents an important step to continue strengthening the operation and connectivity we provide from Panama,” said Pedro Heilbron, executive president of Copa Airlines.
He maintained that the incorporation of the new aircraft will be key to continue expanding the operation and network of destinations. “And thus accompany the economic development of Panama and the region, generating new jobs and growth in the tourism sector,” he highlighted.
The new aircraft will be delivered between 2030 and 2034 – subject to changes in the delivery schedule – and may be used both for fleet growth and for the replacement of existing aircraft, according to the airline’s needs.
The agreement contemplates that Copa can select between the 737 MAX 8, MAX 9 and MAX 10 versions, according to the requirements of its operation, and taking into account the needs of demand, capacity and expansion plans.
