Inside a hotel near its old intercity bus station Patras the 89-year-old man, who was wanted for the attacks on EFKA and in Court of Appeal of Athenswhere he injured a total of five people.
According to information, when the 89-year-old man arrived at the hotel he sat in the reception area and at that moment employees recognized him and notified the Police. After a while, police officers of the Immediate Action arrived at the hotel and proceeded to arrest him. A loaded 38-gauge gun was found in his possession. Afterwards, the 89-year-old was taken to the Police Headquarters, where he is being held.
The hotel employees reported to thebest.gr that he was relaxed and smiling, with obvious signs of mental instability. He did not resist his arrest while leaving he said: “You’ll see me tonight on the news.”

The man had been hospitalized in a psychiatric facility in 2018. That year, a court had ruled that the elderly man was not entitled to a pension, for which he had submitted a relevant application. At that time, he had left two cases in front of the Prosecutor’s Office, while he was later diagnosed with a mental health illness.
When the first attack took place, a niece of the 89-year-old called the police and named him. Sources estimate that the man may have premeditated his plans.
