German Chancellor Friedrich Merz believes that the United States should join the international mission to protect the Strait of Hormuz, and his country can provide assistance in the form of reconnaissance and demining.

Mertz’s direct speech: “We will therefore participate in the further military planning discussions that are currently taking place and would also like to have the United States of America join them, if possible. We believe that would be desirable.”

Details: He added that for Germany to participate in the mission in the Strait of Hormuz, a decision of the federal government, a mandate from the German Bundestag and a “thought-out military concept” would be necessary.
