President of the United States of America Donald Trump described Cole Thomas Allen (31)the suspect in the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as a person filled with hatred and, according to him, driven by anti-Christian views.
In a statement to Fox News, he said the content of the suspect’s alleged manifesto shows deep religious bigotry.
– He had a lot of hatred in his heart for a long time, Trump said, adding that it was a “strongly anti-Christian” motivation. He also pointed out that the suspect’s family was aware of his problems and suggested that “perhaps they should have reported him to the authorities earlier”.
– I hate such people, sick and dangerous. People like that are changing the course of our country, Trump said.
Speaking about the incident, Trump praised the Secret Service’s response, saying the gunman “ran toward the entrance like an NFL player” but was stopped before he could penetrate further into the secured area.
He reiterated plans to build a new, high-security ballroom in the White House complex, which he said would have bulletproof glass and advanced security systems, including drone protection.
The suspect, identified as Cole Allen, was arrested at the Washington Hilton Hotel. According to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, he was stopped “just before breaching the security perimeter.”
Investigators say written materials indicating an intent to target Trump administration officials, as well as social media content with anti-Trump and anti-Christian messages, were found at the hotel.
