MP Spartak Braho commented today, in an interview for Report TV, what is happening with the case of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj. Braho said that we still don’t understand what Veliaj is accused of, while emphasizing that the prosecutor of the case, Ols Dado, is illegal. According to him, Dado was appointed from a notary to a prosecutor, without completing the Magistrate’s school, a case which Veliaj has taken to the Administrative Court and seeks the annulment of his appointment as a prosecutor in 2008.
“Veliaj, we still don’t know what he is accused of. There continues the debate whether the prosecutor is legal or not, which for me is illegal. You can’t be appointed a prosecutor without meeting the conditions. He had to finish the school of magistracy, he went from notary to prosecutor”, said Braho.
“Veliaj, if he is innocent, it does not prevent anyone from continuing his political commitment. A criminal decision that strips him of his guilt cannot close the way for him to engage and participate in politics”, he further emphasized.
