The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, launched several development projects on Monday in the commune of Tafraout in the province of Tiznit.
Launched in the presence of the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amine Tehraoui, the wali of the Souss-Massa region, governor of the prefecture of Agadir Ida-Outanane, Saïd Amzazi, the director general of the territorial health group of the region, Tarik El Harti as well as several local actors, these projects are part of the government’s commitment to the overall upgrading of territories and the reduction of social and territorial disparities, in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines.
The Head of Government thus proceeded to lay the first stone of the Tafraout local hospital project, which will be built over an area of 4 hectares, for a total cost of 227 million dirhams and with a capacity of 45 beds.
This project aims to ensure citizens’ access to basic health services, to avoid costly travel to other regions for treatment, as well as to improve the working conditions of health professionals, thus contributing to a sustainable improvement in health indicators at the regional level.

The hospital will offer a diverse set of medical and care services for the benefit of approximately 70,000 inhabitants of the Tiznit province, including general and specialized medicine, general surgery, gynecology-obstetrics, pediatrics, resuscitation and anesthesia, radiology, as well as the management of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, in addition to nursing care, thus ensuring comprehensive care of patients and meeting their different health needs.
Regarding the social and solidarity economy, Mr. Akhannouch was informed of the project to create and equip a space dedicated to the exhibition and marketing of craft products in the commune of Tafraout, as well as the project to develop a craft market.
These projects aim to promote the traditional heritage and strengthen the tourist attractiveness of the region.

Furthermore, the Head of Government visited the project to build a weekly souk and a livestock market, with a total area of more than 16,000 m², which will contribute to the creation of hundreds of jobs, the promotion of local products, supporting the income of local breeders and reducing travel to Tiznit and Agadir for weekly purchases.
He also took note of the project to build a new slaughterhouse to modern standards in the commune of Tafraout, which will reduce losses in the meat chain by up to 20% and guarantee the health quality of the products offered on the markets thanks to regular veterinary checks.
This visit was also an opportunity to present several planned projects, including urban development and the upgrading of under-equipped neighborhoods, the creation of a green space including children’s play areas, as well as the construction of a student house.
These also include projects for the creation of a multi-purpose entertainment space, the construction of a holiday center, as well as a new headquarters for the municipality of Tafraout.

The Head of Government also took note of the project to develop the municipal land, which will be equipped with synthetic turf, as well as several necessary sports and health infrastructures.
