“The management of the National Tax and Customs Office did not deny it to our knowledge that it has been suspended the execution of several multi-billion HUF transfers linked to Antal Rogán on suspicion of money laundering,” future Prime Minister Péter Magyar said in his Facebook video on Monday, and then continued by saying that, as far as they know, since then, several “Stróman’s accounts” close to NER have also been frozen.
In his video, he pointed out that, according to the currently effective legislation, NAV can only maintain the suspension for 4 plus 3 days, and can freeze the funds involved in the transfer only in case of police proceedings. “I therefore call on the chairman of NAV to file a police report on the transfers reported by the banks so that the investigative authorities can investigate the origin of the billions involved,” he said.
In addition, he called on the outgoing Orbán government to decide at Wednesday’s government meeting that the NAV may suspend transfers suspected of money laundering and asset theft for 90 days in the future.
“I also ask the authorities to announce this government decree immediately, on Wednesday,” he said.
He asked Hungarian banks to strengthen their compliance departments (compliance is part of the organization’s internal control system) and to report suspicious transactions to the NAV. It has put legal prospects in perspective against those who do not act legally.
He also said that one of their first steps will be “the establishment of the National Asset Recovery and Protection Office, which will be tasked with recovering the many thousands of billion forints stolen over the past 20 years.”
The British Guardian recently reported thatthat according to their information, private planes are constantly taking off from Vienna that are supposed to transport the wealth of those who became rich during the time of the Orbán government. The paper also wrote that they know that “high-ranking persons close to Orbán are looking for American visa opportunities.” An American official confirmed to the newspaper that America is an alternative destination for circles close to Fidesz.
Monday in his statement the Government Information Center wrote that Viktor Orbán will not travel to the United States for an extended period of time. “He will watch the FIFA World Cup final as per his previous habits. All reports to the contrary are untrue and baseless.”
