Lao Front to hold National Congress this week
The Lao Front for National Development (LFND) will hold its 12th National Congress on April 28-29, the Vice President of the Lao Front’s Central Committee, Mr Laopaoxong Navongxay, told a press conference on Thursday.
The Congress will review the fulfilment of resolutions adopted for the previous term and its efforts to bolster national solidarity and chart a course for future development.
Delegates will reflect on the achievements of the Lao Front and identify areas requiring improvement to ensure it continues to be a pillar of national progress.
Mr Laopaoxong said the Congress will lay out a new vision for the organisation, aiming to reinforce the bonds between all sectors of society. This includes strengthening ties among various ethnic groups, religious communities, and the Lao diaspora overseas.
Subcommittees are finalising preparations for the Congress, including compiling political reports, summaries of the socio-economic development plan, and updates to the LFND’s regulations.
A key highlight of the meeting will be the appointment of a new Central Committee.
Candidates for leadership positions are expected to meet rigorous criteria, with a focus on integrity, professional qualification, and a demonstrated commitment to national unity. The Congress will appoint a new President and Vice Presidents to lead the organisation forward.
In the lead-up to the event, a variety of activities are taking place around the country under the theme “Patriotism and Development”, including sports contests and cultural performances.
Organisers say that all arrangements for the Congress are being conducted with a focus on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and the highest standards of security.
Mr Laopaoxong called on Party members, state officials, and citizens from all walks of life to contribute to the success of the meeting by maintaining a spirit of solidarity and supporting the aims and activities of the Lao Front for National Development as it seeks to foster unity in the cause of national development.
