Freyr Alexandersson and his students in Brann today secured a place in the final of the Norwegian football cup with a narrow victory against Aalesund in Bergen.
The game ended with a narrow victory for Brann, 2:1, but this was Brann’s first victory since April 6, when the team beat HamKam in the league.
Aalesund player Simen Haram had the misfortune of scoring an own goal in the 10th minute. Ulrik Mathisen doubled Brann’s lead in the 39th minute before Elias Kristoffersen Hagen scratched the back for Aalesund in the 78th minute.
Jón Dagur Þorsteinsson came on for Brann in the 68th minute, but Kristall Máni Ingason was a substitute. Ólafur Guðmundsson played the entire game with Aalesund, but Davíð Snær Jóhannsson was a substitute.
Brann will meet Bodö/Glimt, who beat YMCA in the other semi-final after extra time, in the final in Oslo on May 9.
