He was held criminally liable, but he owned two registered carbines and a traumatic pistol, the last weapon permit was obtained on the basis of a journalist’s certificate. The SBU is checking these circumstances.
Kravchenko’s direct speech: “Analysis of the contents of the killer’s mobile phone proved systematic preparation for committing a mass shooting. On the video recordings discovered, it was recorded how he practiced the skills of quickly bringing weapons into combat readiness and aimed shooting at home.
He accompanied his actions with aggressive monologues: he called people “pigs” who “were going to pee”, used language of hostility towards Ukrainians, shouted Nazi salutes and called for violence on ideological grounds.
The intruder showed particular dislike for his neighbor, whom he contemptuously called “the director of the sixth.” He was the first victim of the attack.”
Details: The prosecutor’s office calls the dispute over the intercom the “trigger hook” of the April 18 tragedy.
During the conflict at the entrance, the attacker first fired with a traumatic weapon, injuring several people. When the rounds stopped, he threw the gun away, went up to his apartment, took the firearm, set the apartment on fire and returned to the street.
Near the house, the shooter killed a neighbor and a taxi driver. He also injured the son of the first victim, his wife, her sister and the janitor who was covering the child. Later, the sister and the janitor died from their fatal injuries.
Kravchenko’s direct speech: “The attacker recorded his actions on audio. After the first murders, the man, moving towards the supermarket, continued to fire and shot two more people. At the same time, he selectively warned individual passers-by to run away, “because now there will be shooting.”
In the store, the attacker walked between the rows, threatened people with a weapon and shot an employee. In addition, five more people were injured in the store.
Having barricaded himself with the hostages, he turned to the employee of the currency exchange office with a demand to immediately leave the cash register and call a representative for negotiations. The man threatened to shoot through the door and kill the woman if she refused. He was not interested in money, he shouted: “Get out of the cash register, I will not take your dollars.”
The man justified all his actions as “self-defense” from an alleged group attack by four people near the entrance, claiming that he was “run over by a young man together with women.” He appealed to his military experience and rank of major, saying that he “couldn’t take it anymore.” At the same time, he demonstrated extreme cynicism, commenting on the murder of his neighbor: “He is already a corpse, his brains are lying there.”
Details: Kravchenko recalled that the attacker was eliminated during the assault by the special forces.
Seven people died as a result of the terrorist attack. 7 victims are still in the hospital.
Final conclusions regarding the motives, mental state and sanity of the shooter at the time of the crime will be made after the post-mortem forensic psychological and psychiatric examinations are completed, the Prosecutor General promised.
