From San Marino information (Friday 6 November) – Two companies from the Republic of San Marino appear in the international network which has ended up at the center of an investigation by the Customs and Monopolies Agency of
Rimini on alleged tax fraud in the trade of alcohol and beer. The investigation led to the preventive seizure of over 7 million euros, carried out with the
collaboration with the Financial Police. At the center of the investigations was a Rimini company which, according to investigators, participated in a system of
VAT evasion and undue requests for excise duty refunds. The network would involve a holding company, 12 Italian companies, nine companies based in Bulgaria,
Croatia, Czech Republic and Romania and two San Marino companies. The connection with San Marino would concern some sales that the Rimini company would have
declared to have made transactions to Titan companies and European shell companies. According to the accusatory hypothesis, invoices for non-existent transactions and documents
falsified transport documents would have been used to simulate sales abroad and generate VAT credits that were not due.
The goods would have been purchased at prices lower than market prices through paper mill companies and operators who failed to comply with tax obligations, and then passed through various intermediaries. Also under observation are the constant losses and reduced margins of the Rimini company, considered anomalous by the investigators.
A further trend concerns excise duty refunds, which would have been requested on the basis of documentation and declarations considered false. The seizure has
interested tax credits, current accounts, economic resources and movable and immovable assets attributable to the suspects.
