PARAMARIBO — The Surinamese Airlines (SLM) canceled its regional flight from Paramaribo to Aruba and Curaçao on Monday (today). The national airline reports that a technical defect is the basis for this decision.
It has not been announced exactly what the technical defect is and how long the aircraft will have to remain on the ground. Nor is it known whether the cancellation of the flight will have consequences for the remainder of the regional flight schedule in the near future. However, travelers who have to arrive from Miami on Tuesday were told on Monday evening that their flight will no longer land at Zanderij on Tuesday evening, but on Wednesday morning.
“It has not been announced exactly what the technical defect is and how long the aircraft will have to remain on the ground.”
In an official announcement, the SLM apologizes for the inconvenience caused. Affected passengers will be informed as soon as possible about the new departure and check-in times as soon as they become available. The company advises travelers to contact their travel agent or call center via the dedicated flight disruption help page.
The cancellation of flight PY 431 joins a series of operational challenges that SLM has faced in recent months. The regional network and the mid-Atlantic route were repeatedly hit by disruptions.
