An American citizen was arrested by the Tirana Police after the protest held on October 31, under suspicion of direct involvement in acts of violence against law enforcement. The detainee has been identified as Kevin Radosevich, originally from California.
Radosevich was allegedly photographed during the rally throwing Molotov cocktails at protesters, although this specific action remains unconfirmed by police authorities.
The American is among the 6 people arrested during the recent clashes, who are charged with the serious criminal charge of “Murder of a Police Officer”, which remains pending. The group of detainees is accused of organized attacks on police officers using Molotov explosives, stones, pyrotechnic tools, as well as spheres and metal screws released with slingshots. Two of the arrested were caught red-handed with Molotov cocktails.
The arrest of Kevin Radosevich marks the second case of handcuffing foreign nationals during opposition protests against the government. On October 17, police also detained American citizen Julien Williams and Italian Marco Benvenuto, who are under investigation for clashes with police officers, a charge they denied during questioning.
