National Security services were able to dismantle an organized criminal network active in drug trafficking, with the seizure of 69 kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of two of its members in the state of Tamanrasset.
According to a National Security statement, the operation was carried out by members of the Search and Intervention Squad (BRI) of Tamanrasset State Security, and resulted in thwarting a criminal plan to transport a shipment of cocaine from one of the southern states towards the northern states of the country.
The same source explained that members of the squad intercepted a truck designated for refrigeration and subjected it to a thorough inspection, which enabled the seizure of 69 kilograms of cocaine, which was tightly hidden inside various cavities and parts of the truck’s chassis.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of a sum of money in the national currency estimated at 410 million centimes, in addition to a utility vehicle linked to criminal activity.
The two suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Specialized Criminal Police Department in Ouargla.
