Havana/The Mozart Habana Festival returns to the Cuban capital with a program dedicated to the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and other composers of the classical repertoire. Organized by the Lyceum Mozartiano of Havana, in collaboration with the Office of the City Historian and with the support of cultural institutions linked to Austria, the meeting will have as its main stage the Oratorio San Felipe Neri, one of the emblematic spaces for concert music in the Historic Center.
The announced programming includes a concert dedicated to Mozart on Sunday, November 8, at 4:00 pm; another that will bring together works by Mozart and Joseph Haydn on Tuesday the 10th, at 4:00 pm; and a new presentation of Mozartian music on Wednesday the 11th, also at 4:00 pm. The closing is scheduled for Thursday the 12th, at 3:00 pm, with a program dedicated to Mozart and Raffelin.
The festival seeks to bring the Cuban public closer to the work of the Austrian composer and promote musical exchange between performers of different generations. The Lyceum Mozartiano of Havana has carried out training and dissemination of classical music for years, with special attention to young instrumentalists and the chamber repertoire.
The San Felipe Neri Oratory, originally founded as a religious temple in 1693 and recovered as a concert hall, offers a unique architectural setting for these presentations. It is a regular venue for musical activities and artistic training projects.
