the project ofskiable junction between the sectors of Pal and Arinsal has passed one of the necessary procedures to continue moving forward. The Department of Heritage has issued a favorable report to the initiative, although it establishes an area of protection in the Black port to preserve fossils located during paleontological surveys. The Consul Major of La Massana, Eva Sansa, confirmed that the common received the document last week and is now waiting for the assessments of other departments.
The favorable report of heritage allows the processing of the project to continue, however incorporates limitations on the actions that can be carried out on a part of the land. Specifically, a protection perimeter has been defined around the palaeontological remains, within which pylons or elements linked to artificial snow production cannons may not be installed.
“The whole falling boulder thing is missing, that needs to be polished as well”
The measure responds to the need to preserve the fossil heritage discovered in Port Negrean area where surveys had found a significant abundance of remains. This circumstance had turned the assessment of the heritage department in one of the conditions of the connection project between the two stations.
“At the level of heritage, the report is already favorable”, he explained the Consul Major of La Massana, Eva Sansa who pointed out that the established restrictions will oblige to respect the delimited space and to avoid any installation that could compromise the conservation of fossils.
Despite this progress, the initiative still does not have all the necessary reports to complete the administrative process. The common is waiting to receive the pronouncement of denvironment department, which Sansa hopes is favorable as well. Equally, assessments relating to the risk of falling rock blocks and other reports linked to territorial planning remain to be completed.
The consul pointed out that technical work is still underway and that certain aspects of security still need to be finalized. “We have been told that they are doing it and then the whole issue of falling bouldersthat this must also be finished polishing”.
The endorsement of heritage thus represents a new step in the processing of the skiable unionbut does not constitute a definitive authorization. The development of the initiative will continue to be conditioned by pending sectoral reports and compliance with the protection measures established to preserve the Paleontological remains of Port Negre.
