On May 16-17, the MHP Run4Victory charity marathon will be held in Kyiv
Before the full-scale war, Denys Semenovskyi lived in Kyiv, worked as an electrician and led an active life. I did projects all over Ukraine, from apartments and offices to large objects. Family, adult children, in his free time went hiking in the mountains.
In 2022, Denys went to the TRO, and later joined the National Guard of Ukraine. At the same time, he volunteered: he helped displaced people, supported the elderly in his area. In 2025, he voluntarily agreed to a rotation in the infantry to replace those who had already held positions for more than a month.
While performing a combat mission in conditions of poor visibility, Denys came across a mine. He applied the tourniquets himself, but the evacuation lasted more than 44 hours, so the chances of survival were minimal.
Then operations and recovery. Within three months, Denys was independently moving around the territory, training, regaining control over his body. The next stage is prosthetics.
Denis will undergo it at the prosthetic center of the Protez Foundation, where he will practice exercises with physical therapists and adapt to loads so that prosthetics is effective and safe.
“Almost no one in Ukraine and the world deals with such cases with high paired amputations of the limbs,” – Yevhen Oplimakh, senior prosthetist-orthologist of the Protez Foundation.

Today, Denis’ main goal is to become mobile. Move independently, get behind the wheel, return to work in the army already in a different position.
“With a prosthesis, you go to the car, get in and drive. It’s about independence,” says Denys.
He trains every day and prepares for prosthetics — it will cost UAH 1.7 million.

“Each donation and participation is a real help. This is what enables me and my brothers to return to life,” he explains.
It is for this reason that the MHP Run4Victory charity marathon will be held in Kyiv on May 16-17. For the first time since the beginning of the full-scale war, the central streets of the capital will be opened for a race for an important mission.
“The charity MHP Run4Victory Kyiv marathon is a way to unite people around an important mission – the recovery of our veterans. Drawing attention to the topic of prosthetics will help more defenders who lost limbs in the war,” said Pavlo Moroz, director of the department of corporate social responsibility of the MHP. limbs”.
The marathon aims to support the recovery of those who need it most. Denis is one of those for whom every registration becomes a point of return to a full life.
