A chef of Canouan was ordered to pay over EC$ 1,000 when he appeared in court on September 21, 2026 on two marijuana charges.
Twenty-two-year old Jovannie Matthew, was arrested on September 20, 2026, and slapped with one charge of possession, and one of intent to supply marijuana.
The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), said in a release that on September 19, 2026, Matthews had in his possession 288 grammes of cannabis with intent to supply it to another.
He was also charged with having in his possession 2,027 grammes of cannabis with intent to supply it to another.
The offences were committed at Happy Hill, Canouan. Mathews appeared in the Serious Offences Court on September 21, 2026, where he pleaded guilty to both offences.
For the possession of 288 grammes of cannabis he was fined EC$110.00 to be paid forthwith, the default penalty being three months at His Majesty’s Prison.
On the charge of possession of 2027 grams of cannabis, Matthews was fined EC$1,000.00 to be paid forthwith. If he defaults, he will spend three months at His Majesty’s Prison.
