The Prosecutor of the Nation, Tomas Galvezconcluded the appointment of Zoraida Avalos in the First Supreme Criminal Prosecutor’s Office, after the National Board of Justice (JNJ) ordered his dismissal as supreme prosecutor due to age limit.
Through the Resolution of the Attorney General’s Office No. 2813-2026-MP-FNwhich this newspaper accessed, the provisions were complied with by Resolution of the National Board of Justice No. 562-2026-JNJ, dated September 14.
Likewise, it was ordered to inform Avalos Rivera that he must carry out the corresponding delivery of the position, in accordance with the provisions indicated in General Directive No. 007-2002-MP-FN.
Finally, it was decided to notify the JNJ, the First Supreme Criminal Prosecutor’s Office, the Presidency of the Board of Superior Prosecutors of the Fiscal District of Lima Central, the General Management, the Office of Registration and Evaluation of Prosecutors, and the General Office of Human Potential of the resolution.
Likewise, to the Office of Institutional Integrity, the Office of Fiscal Productivity Control, the National Registry of Detainees and Sentenced to Effective Deprivation of Liberty, the Office of Institutional Image and to Ávalos herself.

As recalled, the JNJ ordered to cancel the title granted in favor of Zoraida Ávalos as titular supreme prosecutor, in accordance with the provisions of article 10, literal a) of the Regulations for the Issuance and Cancellation of Titles of Judges and Prosecutors.
“To order the dismissal due to the age limit of Mrs. Zoraida Ávalos Rivera, in the position of Supreme Prosecutor, as of June 14, 2026, the date on which she turned seventy (70) years of age”says the document.
Likewise, the organization declared inadmissible what was decided by the Attorney General’s Office on June 8, regarding Ávalos’ permanence in office until December 31 of this year.
The JNJ explained that the general provisions applicable to public servants are not applicable to prosecutors in matters of dismissal due to age limits, which is specifically regulated in the Fiscal Career Law.
