A new music festival starts in Tasiilaq on Friday, where there will be live concerts with Rasmus Lyberth and Small Time Giants.
The music festival IKUMA Music Festivalwhich takes place on Friday in Tasiilaq, receives financial and practical support from Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq.

Four friends from Tasiilaq are behind the festival: Carl Florian Sørensen, Mathias Stenbakken, Pappi Zaki Henriksen and Paakkannaq Henriksen.
The project started as a music workshop and a concert, but has turned into a whole festival.
The municipality supports with DKK 50,000 from the Sermeq pool, a development pool that supports initiatives that create activities, community and development in the municipality. In addition, the cultural department in Tasiilaq has granted 15,000 kroner for the start of the festival.
– We are proud to support the IKUMA Music Festival. The festival creates community, strengthens cultural life in Tasiilaq and shows what we can achieve when we lift together, says department head for Leisure and Culture in Tasiilaq, Magnus Kristiansen.
Live concerts with Rasmus Lyberth and Small Time Giants
In addition to the financial support, the municipality also contributes a number of practical resources to the festival in Tasiilaq. The municipality provides the stage, tables, chairs, bouncy castle and musical equipment.
Music consultant Ferdinand Sivertsen-Ignatiussen contributes with advice on the setup of the festival and at the same time helps with the sound management during the event. In addition, Magnus Kristiansen will help with everything he can on the day.
The municipality is also responsible for the organization of the volunteers, and the local committee in Tasiilaq has provided facilities, including a barbecue, and has purchased a stage tent, which the festival is allowed to borrow.
With the total support, Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq wants to help create a good framework for a festival that brings together citizens and visitors in Tasiilaq.
The IKUMA Music Festival will take place on Friday 24th July at the football ground in Tasiilaq and will start at 12:00. It is free to participate. The day offers, among other things, live concerts with Rasmus Lyberth and Small Time Giants.
Prior to the festival, the music duo Lysteriet held a music workshop for the town’s children. Here the children had the opportunity to work with music and develop their own abilities, before they will have the opportunity to stand on the same stage as the renowned Greenlandic musicians on the day of the festival.
