Hákon was last seen around 20:00 on the evening of Saturday, April 11, when he left the airport in Budapest and got into a bus, according to relatives.
“It’s just been sleepless nights and a lot of anxiety,” says Aron Freyr, Hákon’s 20-year-old son, in an interview with Vísi.
The police are investigating the case
Aron explains that his father has been in Budapest, Hungary for the past three to four months. He then planned to return home to greet his son but also to attend to various errands in Iceland.
Hákon then bought a ticket for a flight with Wizz dated Saturday, April 11. He went to the airport with the help of an acquaintance, and the airport staff were going to help him when he arrived at the airport.
But then he pushed the airport staff away, according to Aron Frey. Hákon left the airport and got on a bus.
He has not been seen since, as far as is known.
Aron says that his father’s phone is not ringing, but that the police in Iceland, who are investigating the case, now have Hákon’s laptop in their hands and are trying to see if it is possible to find the last GPS recording on his mobile phone (such as with the program “Find my iPhone”).
Aron says that his father has been on a trip all over Europe for the past few months, but the travel plans have hit the family hard. It would be very unlike him.
The last phone communication they had with him was through FaceTime, where he seemed pale and extremely confused.
The staff are getting to know him
Vísir also spoke to an employee of the hotel where Hákon was staying.
The hotel employee said that the staff were seriously worried about Hákon, as they had come to know him well since he had stayed at the hotel for over a quarter of a year. He seemed beside himself when he left the hotel.
