If there has been a wait for parcels and letters in areas north of Ilulissat, there is an explanation for that. Some of the shipments are delayed, naalakkersuisoq replies to a member of Inatsisartut.
How many air freight is at Ilulissat airport, which is going on to destinations north of Ilulissat. Among other things, the member of Inatsisartut, Jens NapãtôK (N), wanted to be informed and has therefore asked questions to naalakkersuisoq for housing, infrastructure, outer districts and preparedness, Iddimanngiiu Jensen Bianco (IA), in accordance with clause 37. Naalakkersuisoq has now answered.
– Cargo that is in transit towards Ilulissat, which must be redistributed to other destinations, is estimated to be 1000-1400 kg to Upernavik, Qaanaaq, Qaarsut / Uummannaq, it is stated, among other things, in naalakkersuisoq’s answer, prepared by Air Greenland.
It appears from the response that some of this is delayed, while others are on schedule. There is no separate explanation of how much the delayed and non-delayed shipments weigh.
Shipments to the north from Ilulissat to the above-mentioned destinations are, according to Air Greenland, registered and distributed as per June 30:
– In Ilulissat, challenges are experienced with southerly winds during these weeks, which necessitate that cargo be unloaded due to weight restrictions, writes the airline.
Expect improvements
When, according to current plans, the international airport in Ilulissat opens on October 29 this autumn, it will improve transport to the rest of the country and also to the areas north of Ilulissat, the company writes.
– Direct Atlantic flights to and from Ilulissat are expected to relieve the current domestic system, create a more direct freight route to North Greenland and free up capacity in the rest of the network, writes Air Greenland in Naalakkersuisut’s reply to the member of Inatsisartut.
