Support for the prime minister’s NCP has fallen to its lowest level in five years.
The trend is unmistakable, writes Helsingin Sanomat. The opposition party Left Alliance is gaining ground, while the ruling National Coalition Party is losing it.
Support for the NCP has fallen to its lowest level in five years, HS writes, reporting on the results of its latest party support poll.
The survey found that 17.6 percent of voters would back the NCP if parliamentary elections were held today, down 2.3 percentage points from the previous year.
The Left Alliance has seen its support rise steadily to 10.6 percent, with the Green League also gaining, reaching 9.2 percent. The poll leader, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has edged down slightly, but still ahead with 24.6 percent support.
Wednesday warnings
On Wednesday, the whole country is bathed in a yellow glow of warnings, reports Ilta-Sanomat.
That’s thanks to three separate hazards, including strong winds, an elevated risk of forest fires and slippery driving conditions.
Gusts are likely to cause isolated wind damage across the country. A wildfire warning is meanwhile in force over much of the country on Wednesday owing to dry conditions.
Up north, snow and sleet may worsen driving conditions.
Finland’s ‘one-euro’ homes
While Italy is famous for its one-euro houses, Talouselämä looks at a similarly priced property closer to home.
A seaside property on Pentala island in Espoo is listed on the Etuovi real estate site for just one euro.
In reality, it’s more of a marketing trick, the business magazine found after calling the seller.
If a property sits unsold for years, owners sometimes try something different. In this case, the one-euro price is just a starting point to attract interest and kick off a bidding process.
The property had previously been on the market for around two years, priced at well over half a million euros, but it failed to attract any offers.
