The Democratic Parliamentary Group a resolution proposal has been submitted, within the framework of Political Orientation Debateto entrust to Government to deploy within a maximum period of six months a program of accompanying measures for individuals or family units that allocate more than 30% of their income net of the payment of the rent of the usual home.
The program is framed in the Law approving the legal system applicable to housing lease contracts for habitual and permanent residence for the period 2027-2030, approved by General Council last June 4.
The proposal is addressed to affected tenants for the end of contract extensions from January 1, 2027, as well as households with contracts subscribed from 2022 that are not subject to the forced extension and the people who have to formalize a new lease.
The proposed measures would have a ctemporary, reviewable and personalizedand they would remain only as long as the circumstances that justified their granting continue. The Democratic Group also requires that the beneficiaries have one individualized monitoring to determine the most appropriate measures in each case, taking into account the income of the family unit, the composition of the household and other possible situations of vulnerability.
In the statement of reasons, the group defends that decent housing is one of “fundamental pillars of social cohesionof people’s well-being and equal opportunities” and points out that access to housing remains the main concern of citizens.
The proposed resolutiontogether with those presented by the rest of the parliamentary groups, will be debated and voted on in the session of General Council scheduled for July 14.
