Karan: Republika Srpska is the Vidovdan and Kosovo vow of the Serbian people
“What we want to say today is that the Serbs on this side of the Drina fulfilled both the Svetosava and Vidovdan vows, and that vow is called Republika Srpska,” said Karan.
Karan sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Vidovdan, pointing out that it is a rare word in the history of the Serbian people that symbolizes everything in itself.
“When you say Vidovdan, you see 600 years of the Serbian people’s struggle for freedom, you see all its tragedy, all its downfalls and all its ups and downs,” said Karan.
He thanked the Third Republika Srpska Infantry Regiment, which inherits and nurtures the traditions of the Republika Srpska Army.
Minić: Defensive-patriotic war waged under the Vidovdan oath
The Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska, Savo Minic, said that the Defense-Patriotic War was fought under the Vidovdan oath and that the Serbian fighter was always under the right flag.
“I congratulate Vidovdan, especially to my comrades. The Vidovdan vow is something that has remained in our culture and tradition as a symbol of coming when it is necessary to defend one’s people. I think that the War of Defense and the Fatherland was fought precisely under that vow,” said Minić.
Ostojić: Vidovdan is the holiday of holidays for Serbian fighters
Vidovdan is a holiday of all holidays for Serbian soldiers and fighters and a day of remembrance of the Kosovo vow, which marked the path of Serbian national identity, said Radan Ostojić, Minister of Labor and Veterans and Disability Protection of Republika Srpska.
Ostojić stated that Vidovdan is also the day when Serbian knights and Emperor Lazar chose freedom in the kingdom of heaven in exchange for earthly life in slavery.
He emphasized that the path of the Serbian people is the path of the eternal struggle for freedom, from which many never returned but went into eternity.
“Freedom was resurrected on that road, Republika Srpska was resurrected. On that road, none of us looked at which force was in front of us, but which shrine we were defending,” said Ostojić in Prijedor.
Goganović: The Serbian soldier fought defensive wars
Deputy Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović said that this day is an opportunity to remember the best Serbian sons who laid down their lives in the foundations of the Republic of Srpska.
He noted that the Serbian soldier never waged wars of conquest, but exclusively waged defensive wars and in his sacrifice brought freedom to his own and other nations.
“Unfortunately, certain irresponsible individuals from other nations persistently want to somehow deny us, the Serbs, the freedom guaranteed to us by the Dayton Peace Agreement,” said Goganović.
